How many yards of mulch do I need?

- You will need to convert your mulch area into square feet. Multiply the length of the area by the width by the depth (in inches) of mulch. If this is a pre-existing mulch bed you can replenish it with a depth of  2" of mulch. If this is a new mulch bed plan on good coverage with a depth of 4". Once you have your square footage of the mulch area, divide that number by 324. For example: I have a 20 foot long bed that is 5 feet wide. I am replenishing the mulch. My calculation would look like this: 100x5x2=1000 sq. ft. /324=3.08642.  I would need 3 yards.
